Excess energy, primarily calories from fats or carbohydrates, is stored in fat cells as triglycerides. This is how your body conserves energy for future use. Over time, this excess energy leads to a fat surplus, which can have an impact on your body shape and health. To lose weight, you must consume fewer calories than you burn. This is known as a calorie deficit. A daily calorie deficit of 500 calories is a good place to start to see discernible fat loss, though it varies from person to person. Fats are released from fat cells and transported to your body’s mitochondria, which are the cells’ Energy-producing organelles, by maintaining a steady calorie deficit. Here, the fat is broken down into energy through a series of processes.
