Can't LOSE Fat? Try These 2 Tips

Can’t LOSE Fat? Try These 2 Tips

Check out the RS Fat loss Recipe – https://rsrecipe.com

Trying to lose weight as quickly as possible on the scale is a completely different focus than fat loss.

And often the faster we strive to see weight loss, the more we really don’t control for fat loss nor optimize our body recomposition.

Actually the more we can negatively impact our body recomposition results!

Because often in our attempt to lose weight faster, we slash our calories super low and try to exercise more.

This results in, yes more weight being lost, but this weight is not only fat but also MUSCLE.

It can also cause us to create metabolic adaptations and hormonal changes that can make us look SOFTER, which is the opposite of what we want to happen.

And this is especially the case when we’re working to lose those last 5 to 10 pounds.

You simply can’t out diet or out exercise TIME.

And while, yes, calories in vs calories out matters, we can’t focus on purely trying to starve ourselves by slashing our calories super low or creating more of a deficit through our training.

Actually we need to stop focusing on our training as a way to burn calories at all.

And we need to stop purely focusing on our calorie intake if we want the best fat loss results possible.

These improper weight loss practices, and even at times extreme deprivation diets and overtraining, are what lead to that horrible yo-yo dieting cycle.

They lead to potentially rapid weight loss on the scale, but also that inevitable weight gain.

Through these fad diets, we create unsustainable habits, thrown our bodies out of whack and often create metabolic adaptations that make it even harder to lose the weight the next time we attempt to.

So if you’ve ever thought to yourself, “My age just makes it so much harder?”

Or “It’s so much harder than it used to be to lose weight?”

Well that might have less to do with getting older, and more to do with the improper dieting practices you’ve implemented previously!

The great part is though, we CAN reverse much of the “damage” we’ve done.

We can retrain our body to eat more and lose fat while restoring our metabolic health.

But we have to stop looking for a fast fix.

Instead we sort of have to do the OPPOSITE of what we’ve been told to do…

We need to focus on these two key things…

Dr. Jason Fung, MD, is a nephrologist and expert in the use of intermittent fasting and low-carbohydrate diets for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. In this presentation, delivered on Aug. 2, 2018, at the 2018 CrossFit Health Conference in Madison, Wisconsin, Fung shares his first-hand experiences with “The Mess” and discusses how he shifted his research and medical practices as a result of those experiences.

Fung’s objectives for his presentation include:
1. Understanding why long-term weight loss is so difficult.
2. Introducing the concept of therapeutic fasting.
3. Understanding some myths and misunderstandings associated with the fasting process.

He recalls treating obese and diabetic patients with traditional methods, which included what he characterizes as poor dietary recommendations and a slurry of drugs. He explains, “It became obvious that I’m just sort of holding their hand until they get their heart attack, until they get dialysis, until they go blind, until we chop their feet off.”

“It’s really sad to realize that the profession that you’ve chosen is not really helping people,” he says. This realization compelled him to diagnose the problems associated with traditional care and seek alternative treatment methods for his patients.

Fung historicizes what he calls “the modern eating pattern,” which emerged in 1977 in the U.S. with the development of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. He notes the 1977 guidelines led to the consumption of more grains and sugars, which in turn led to people “eating often, eating late, and eating all the time.”

Incidences of obesity and Type 2 diabetes reached epidemic levels, and the most common treatments long have been drug interventions. Unfortunately, the prevailing non-pharmaceutical prescription — to eat less and move more — has a 99.9% failure rate. Fung observes that popular wisdom tells us to blame the patient and assume he or she did not adhere to the prescription. He claims a basic understanding of metabolism suggests otherwise, however.

Fung explains why a significant reduction in caloric intake leads to a decrease in basal metabolism. This biological inevitability is ignored by the proponents of the “calories in, calories out” fallacy, he observes.

He also explains why intermittent fasting is an effective alternative to traditional treatments for obesity and diabetes. The modern eating pattern keeps our insulin levels high all the time as we eat over long durations, and when insulin remains high all the time, Fung explains, our bodies store food energy as fat, and we remain hungry.

Intermittent fasting, on the other hand, allows insulin levels to drop, which puts us in burning mode rather than storing mode.
Fung claims his recommendations are so effective that patients no longer need to say, “Oh wow, I have to go see my doctor to see what pill I need,” or, “I need to go see my doctor to see if he needs to stick a stent in me.” Instead, Fung explains, “We’re giving you the power to take back your own health, because you’re not gonna get it from anywhere else.”

Lose Your Gut (Pot Belly) with these Strategies – Thomas DeLauer

Fasting

Study from Nature Communications found that fasting preferentially burns visceral fat

Fasting upregulates miR-133a, which inhibits PRDM16, and that reduces thermogenesis in Subc WAT and drives the transition from Sub to Visceral fat**

Visceral fat is preferentially oxidized as it can drain directly into the portal circulation and appears to be more efficient at meeting energy needs compared with the relatively externally located subcutaneous fat

Visceral is more vascular and contains a higher {207ec0e55ac2d8ff09d5a0c2aab9d2ad76a7d888f1e59bae109fcfedbf7c5271} of large adipocytes plus having more glucocorticoid and androgen receptors than subcutaneous

Estrogen

Boron

Boron inhibits SHBG, freeing up testosterone, and this increase in T results in the decrease of E2

Additionally, boron can:

Boost magnesium absorption
Reduce levels of inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α)
Raise levels of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase

DIM

DIM is a naturally occurring byproduct of indole-3-carbinol (IC3), and IC3 itself is a byproduct of glucosinolate glucobrassicin, which is a compound found in cruciferous veggies, such as: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and kale

In particular, IC3 helps the liver to metabolize estrogen more efficiently via upregulating the CYP1A2 enzyme (CYP1A2 is an enzyme that helps to break down toxins in our bodies)

It also simultaneously converts strong estrogen molecules into less potent ones (via downregulation of the CYPB1B enzyme and upregulation of CYP1A2 enzyme) – results in reduced estrogen levels and a more favorable estradiol/estrone ratio

DIM and its precursor, I3C, suppress adipogenesis, which is the formation of new fat cells
Cortisol
Salt

A lack of sodium causes the brain to send signals to the adrenal gland to increase the release of hormones responsible for water balance (aldosterone & vasopressin) – cortisol is released alongside these hormones

Magnesium

Magnesium deficiency also causes upregulation of the HPA (Hypothalamic–Pituitary–Adrenal) axis which leads to anxiety-like behavior in mice. The HPA axis is responsible for influencing production of the stress hormone cortisol.

Also inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and also acts as a voltage-gated antagonist at the glutamate, N-methyl-D- aspartate (NMDA) receptor

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507250/

Tea for Coffee

Caffeine does cause increases in cortisol, so reducing total caffeine intake may be favorable as well

Liver

Turmeric

Curcumin, one of the active ingredients in turmeric is believed to communicate with liver cells to produce more LDL receptors. Due to increase in receptors, more cholesterol is cleared from our body

Foods High in Chlorophyll (gourd, arugula, dandelion greens, spinach)
Chlorophyll is literally the blood of plants – its chemical structure resembles that of hemin, which combines with protein to form hemoglobin in the human bloodstream

Chlorophyll has proven beneficial to increase the red blood cell count in humans – red blood cells carry oxygen to the tissues

An abundance of oxygen and healthy flow of blood encourages the body to get rid of harmful impurities and toxins – also helps as it chelates to heavy metals

Milk Thistle

The active ingredient in milk thistle, silymarin, creates a detoxifying effect in the body and in the liver as it acts as an antioxidant by reducing free radical production

Silymarin reduces free radical production and lipid peroxidation, has antifibrotic activity and may acts as a toxin blockade agent by inhibiting the binding of toxins to the hepatocyte cell membrane receptors

Pancreas

Study from Diabetologia found that just two weeks of exercise improves beta cell function and reduces pancreatic fat in adults with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes

Found that this short-term training particularly reduced ectopic fat (fat that accumulates in abnormal parts of the body) in the pancreas
