Uric acid Foods to Avoid | Gout Diet Meal Plan | Gout | Uric acid – Best & Worst Foods | hyperuricemia | uric acid detoxification

Gout is a type of arthritis that involves sudden pain, swelling and inflammation of the joints.
People with gout experience sudden and severe attacks of pain, swelling and inflammation of the joints

These symptoms occur when there is too much uric acid in the blood.
This uric acid then crystallizes and settles in the joints.
If you have gout, certain foods may trigger an attack by raising your uric acid levels.
Trigger foods are commonly high in purines. When you digest purines, your body makes uric acid as a waste product
Now, This is not a concern for healthy people, as they efficiently remove excess uric acid from the body.
But, people with gout can’t efficiently remove excess uric acid. Thus, a high-purine diet may lead to uric acid accumulation and cause a gout attack

Foods that commonly trigger gout attacks include organ meats, red meats, seafood, alcohol and beer. They contain a moderate-to-high amount of purines
However, there is one exception to this rule. high-purine vegetables such as asparagus and spinach, do not trigger gout attacks.
And interestingly, fructose and sugar-sweetened beverages can increase the risk of gout attacks, even though they’re not purine-rich

Uric acid foods to avoid:

Avoid high purine foods:
These are foods that contain more than 200 mg of purines per 100gm or 3.5 ounces.
You should also avoid high-fructose foods, as well as moderately-high-purine foods, which contain 150–200 mg of purines per 100gms.

Here are a few major high-purine foods, moderately-high-purine foods and high-fructose foods to avoid:
All organ meats: These include liver, kidneys, sweetbreads andbrain.
Game meats: Examples include pheasant, veal and venison.
Fish: Herring, trout, mackerel, tuna, sardines, anchovies, haddock and more.
Other seafood: Scallops, crab, shrimp and roe.
Sugary beverages: Especially fruit juices and sugary sodas.
Added sugars: Honey, agave nectar and high-fructose corn syrup.
Yeasts: Nutritional yeast, brewer’s yeast and other yeast supplements.

Foods that you Should Eat:
You can consume low-purine foods
Foods are considered low-purine when they have less than 100 mg of purines per 3.5 ounces (100 grams).
Here are some low-purine foods that are generally safe for people with gout
Fruits: All fruits are generally fine for gout. Cherries may even helpprevent attacks by lowering uric acid levels and reducing inflammation
Vegetables: All vegetables are fine, including potatoes, peas, mushrooms, eggplants and dark green leafy vegetables.
Legumes: All legumes are fine, including lentils, beans, soybeans and tofu.
Nuts: All nuts and seeds.
Whole grains: These include oats, brown rice and barley.
Dairy products: All dairy is safe, but low-fat dairy appears tobe especially beneficial
Eggs
Beverages: Coffee, tea and green tea.
Herbs and spices: All herbs and spices.
Plant-based oils: Including canola, coconut, olive and flax oils.

Detraining is defined as when you stop training and lose gains. Research shows that we tend to lose muscle very quickly with complete bed rest – mostly due to suppressed muscle protein synthesis. Doing any kind of physical activity, though, will maintain muscle much better than doing nothing. There are three main factors that will determine how quickly you lose muscle mass: physical activity level (bed rest vs everyday activities vs minimal bodyweight workouts vs weight training), caloric intake, and protein intake. Research shows us that you can prevent muscle loss through training (even minimal bodyweight workouts) and diet (eating at maintenance calories and consuming sufficient protein, 1.6-2.2 g/kg). Older individuals (over 60 years old) may require slightly higher training volume to maintain muscle mass than younger individuals, but the same general recommendations still apply. Finally, even if you lose size, muscle memory will rebuild lost mass quickly.

Thyroid Supplements and Weight Loss (Which to avoid & which to use)

lose belly fats No Comments »

Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/

Can you use thyroid supplements to help with weight loss? The answer is probably not as straightforward as you might think. We will talk about WHY this isn’t the right way to think about losing weight if you have thyroid problems but first let’s focus on weight loss and thyroid supplements.

There are really two groups of people who are interested in using thyroid supplements for weight loss.

Those who are overweight but don’t have thyroid problems and those who are overweight and DO have thyroid problems.

The reason that both groups of people want to use thyroid supplements for weight loss is because they know that the thyroid controls and regulates your metabolism. If you can naturally boost your metabolism then obviously weight loss will be easier.

When it comes to weight loss, though, (for all types of people) you want to focus on T3.

T3 is king when it comes to weight loss because T3 is THE active thyroid hormone and it contros all of the functions that we think about when we think about the thyroid.

T3 is in charge of your metabolism, your thyroid function, your energy levels, your heat production, and your heart rate.

If you are interested in weight loss then T3 should be your PRIMARY focus (not other thyroid hormones). And what makes this a problem is that MOST thyroid medications contain ONLY T4 in them.

And most people are NOT able to turn that T4 into T3 which causes problems and weight loss resistance. This is why it’s so important to optimize your T3!

If you have thyroid problems and you want to lose weight here are the supplements you should AVOID:

– Gimmicky weight loss supplements or those which are heavily marketed.
– Raspberry ketones.
– Orlistat.
– Garcinia cambogia.
– Hydroxycut.

These supplements are marketed for weight loss but are not really effective for those with thyroid problems.

So what should you use instead? You will want to focus on supplements which target the following areas:

– T3 levels (you want supplements which INCREASE T3) levels.
– Inflammation (you want supplements which REDUCE inflammation to help with weight loss).
– Appetite (you want thyroid supplements which help NORMALIZE your appetite and notice I didn’t say suppress it).
– Protein powder (protein powders can help balance your appetite and help you build muscle mass).
– Supplements which promote T4 to T3 conversion (these help INCREASE T3 levels).
– Supplements which LOWER leptin and insulin resistance.

Focus on THESE supplements and THESE areas if you have thyroid problems and want to lose weight (see my recommendations below or in the comments section).

Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function:
– For thyroid hormone production and conversion: https://www.restartmed.com/product/thyroid-adrenal-reset-complex/ + https://www.restartmed.com/product/t3-conversion-booster/
– For hair loss: https://www.restartmed.com/product/thyroid-hair-regrowth-complex/
– For weight management: https://www.restartmed.com/product/gut-bomb-350-billion/ + https://www.restartmed.com/product/functional-fuel-complete/
